Southern Rural Water

We provide water supply services to irrigators, power generators, and urban water corporations. In collaboration with the Victorian Environmental Water Holder, catchment management authorities, and Melbourne Water, we actively manage the release of environmental flows to maintain water sustainability.

Our operations span 88,000 square kilometers—37% of the state—stretching from the South Australian border to the New South Wales border, and from the Great Dividing Range to the Victorian coastline. We oversee seven major dams, eight diversion weirs, and three irrigation districts. Additionally, we manage take-and-use licenses for waterways, licenses for catchment dams, and farm dam registrations.

As stewards of water resources, we are committed to sustainable water management to ensure long-term availability. Supporting southern Victoria’s agricultural economy, our services contribute to a food and fiber sector worth over $17.5 billion annually, making us an essential part of the region’s lifeblood.
