Low clearance, high performance
The CME-55LC/300 gives you all the power and productivity of the standard CME-55 drill. A full length mast is provided for every day wide open spaces, but when overhead space is limited, you can easily change over to low clearance mode. The CME-55LC/300 can set up and drill in as little as 12 foot, 1 inch (3.68 m) overhead clearance, and you still have the full 72 inch (183 cm) feed stroke. Low clearance sheaves permit full use of hoist lines, and the low clearance lifting cylinder allows for normal automatic hammer operation.
Quick disconnect mast
The quick disconnect mast can be secured in its storage rack and removed from the drill by simply sliding the drill back with the hydraulic in/out slide base control. “Quick-cabling” sheaves allow you to easily move the hoist lines from the mast sheaves to the low clearance sheaves provided above the drill frame.
Dependable Cummins power
The CME-55LC offers spindle torque ratings up to 9,425 ft/lbs (12,779 Nm) and spindle speeds up to 800 rpm. That power comes a new Cummins QSF 3.8 turbocharged diesel engine meeting tier-4 final emissions standards.
CME designed track carrier for CME drills
Like every CME all-terrain and rough-terrain drill, the CME-55LC/300 track drill uses a single engine power source for both the drill and carrier. This means lower operating costs and less time maintaining the machine. And since the CME-300 carrier is designed and built by CME specifically for CME drills, there are no compromises. Weight is evenly distributed across the carrier. We take full advantage of all available space, and consideration is given for practical use of the machine including approach angle for loading and unloading and for negotiating hilly terrain.
Remote control carrier
Remote control track drive, engine throttle and front carrier winch allow the operator to move freely around the machine. Manual back-up controls are provided for emergency use. Removable steel belly pans provide protection every day and access when needed. Rubber tracks won’t damage pavement.
Plenty of tool storage available
The CME-55LC/300 track drill includes a front auger rack, drill rod rack and two tool boxes. Additional tool boxes, rod racks and other deck options are available. A water tank is offered as well.
Hydraulic feed system with fast retract
The hydraulic feed system provides 27,615 pounds (12,526 kg) of retract force and 19,750 pounds (8,958 kg) of down pressure. The fast retract speed of up to 95 ft/min (29 m/min) means more production. The split slide bushings are easily replaced after normal wear intervals, and the standard upright gives you the clearance to drill with up to 10-1/4 inch hollow augers.
Drill sliding base, in-out and sideways
Both in-out and sideways slide bases are standard equipment on the CME-55LC/300 track drill. An 18 inch (45.7 cm) in-out slide allows you to quickly move the drill on and off the borehole and align the sheaves for lifting tools with the cathead or any of the hoists. A 6 inch (15.2 cm) sideways slide gives you even more versatility. Aligning augers or rods when making connections is easy. If the bit drifts off at an angle when you start a hole, you can quickly straighten it to a vertical position. Since the upright and mast are mounted directly to the drill frame, they move with the drill when the slide base is used.
Patented Spindle Brake stops rotation in an instant†
Our emergency Spindle Brake can stop rotation in less than a revolution. The system is activated by two conveniently located push button switches as well as strategically located multi-directional wobble switches.

55LC/300 Optional Equipment
Hydraulic rod holder and breakout wrench†
The hydraulic rod holder makes your job quicker and safer. It not only pivots from on-hole to off-hole positions, but also hydraulically moves in and out. For efficient operation, the breakout wrench is mounted at the pivot point of the rod holder arm.
Automatic SPT hammer†
Our 140 pound (63.5 kg) automatic hammer gives you extremely consistent and accurate Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results, meeting all ASTM-D-1586 requirements. That’s because there are no ropes or cables to impede the free fall of the weight. The hammer swings from stored position to on-hole position. Since raising and lowering is done hydraulically, set up is quick and almost effortless. A secondary lifting cylinder enables normal automatic hammer SPT procedures under 12 feet (3.6 m) of overhead clearance. For maximum safety, all moving parts are enclosed, including the impact area between the weight and the anvil. Other hammer systems are available including 170 pound (77 kg), 300 pound (136 kg), and 340 pound (154 kg).
Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT)
CPT controls allow you to easily switch from typical geotechnical drilling and sampling procedures to pushing a cone. A dedicated hydraulic circuit including detented CPT control lever, hydraulic down feed pressure and CPT feed rate controls provide precise pressure and penetration adjustments required to meet ASTM standards. A separate CPT system hydraulic pressure gauge is provided as well. Anchor points are installed below the drill feed frame so that maximum available pressure can be applied to the CPT tools. A 12-volt power source can be provided at the drill control panel to accommodate electronic devices associated with CPT procedures. Mounting for depth transducers or other related equipment can also be provided.
